About the Bijenkorf E-commerce organisation

At the headquarters of the Bijenkorf, our E-commerce department is our youngest and fastest growing department. A passionate, multinational group of over 140 professionals work together on the continuous growth and improvement of our digital platform. We work in an Agile environment where our key stakeholders are our customers.

About the position

We are looking for a senior UX designer who can also take on the role of coaching and mentoring the designers in UX research and design principles. You will be the product designer in one of the multidisciplinary squads, working on one of the phases of our customer journey. As a UX Designer in the squad, you will work in close collaboration with the PO, devs and other stakeholders in setting the strategic direction for your part of the product, turn chaos into patterns using quantitative and qualitative insights and create meaningful interfaces to enable our customers in achieving their goals on our website and apps.

Apart from this, you’d also take the role of mentoring the rest of the designers in UX design and research principles.

What you will be doing

Create

  • Develop a deep understanding of user needs, business requirements, and market trends to inform UX decisions and create user flows and interfaces.
  • Drive UX Strategy with cross-functional teams aligned to business goals.
  • Champion a user-centered design approach in our team and throughout deBijenkorf.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of UX design guidelines and best practices to foster coherent UX across all digital touchpoints.

Educate

  • Coach the product teams to plan for and execute design discovery, design vision and design delivery processes including planning for evaluative and generative design research, iterative design, and usability testing.
  • Be an authority for user research, help collect and synthesize data into actionable insights that are demonstrated in user outcomes.

Collaborate

  • With CX, CRO, and other customer-related teams and execute mixed-methods research projects: from defining problem statement to final presentation and reporting.
  • Jointly decide on project scope, timelines, methods, deliverables, and share-outs.

Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate has a hybrid of UX design and UX research skills. We would love to hear from you if you believe you would be a great fit for our driven team and if you recognize yourself in the following qualities:

UX design skills

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in UI/UX with a solid portfolio showcasing Web and/ or App designs.
  • You consider yourself a pro in Figma and can use prototyping tools (Figma, Proto.io, Principle, Axure, etc) and Zeroheight or similar.
  • You can make sense out of Google Analytics or other data to retrieve the insights, derive the conclusions you need to create solutions for your user problems.

UX research skills

  • You can independently set up and conduct research, applying a variety of research and design methodologies and frameworks, and feel comfortable using those within an agile software development process.
  • You are in your element in bringing different nuggets of insights into one holistic picture.
  • You have experience building or maintaining ResearchOps.
  • You are proactive investigating and proposing areas for research based on product backlog or other rooms for improvements.

General skills

  • You have no difficulty in convincing others in your ideas using excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with storytelling skills.
  • You are a team player but you are also able to work individually.
  • You can communicate professionally in Dutch (B2 level).

Bonus points for previous work on e-commerce websites and apps.
